Parnidis Dune is the most famous visited place in Nida that attract thousands of locals and travelers alike every year. It takes 180 steps to reach the very top – where the granite sundial stands – and where the views are likely to take your breath away. Miles and miles of deep blue water with little boats of fishermen floating around, 7 km long thread of golden sand, forests and panorama of the town, especially all of these at the same time, is something really worth visiting. You are very likely to feel as though you were in some warm climate country rather than in the Baltics, so just don’t forget to take your camera with you!
Thomas Mann Museum is dedicated to displaying the life of this great German writer and Nobel Prize laureate. He, his wife and his children used to spend their summers here in Nida between 1930 and 1932. The beautiful villa overlooking the lagoon has been turned into a museum and lets visitors get a glimpse of the author’s life here in Nida, as well as abroad. However, everything in museum in either in Lithuanian or in German, so in order to get the best out of it you should just grab one of the young friendly locals and ask them to accompany you or book a guided tour, both should work just fine!
Amber Gallery-Museum is a gallery, a museum and a shop all at once. Located in a small fisherman’s hut, the museum has a tiny amber garden and exceptional pieces of amber jewellery, some of them even being for sale! In Nida, this museum is a number one place to visit if you haven’t yet learned much about Lithuania’s gold – amber – but are interested enough, or simply want to take some beautiful and special souvenirs home with you.
Neringa History Museum is yet another place worth visiting that tells a story of life in the Curonian Spit. In here, visitors can find exhibits dating back from the Ice Age up to the beginning of WWII. While there are some interesting items displayed, what sweeps everyone away is the display of various photographs. Some show local men and hunters biting a crow’s neck in order to kill the bird, others those same men taking a shot of vodka in order to wash the dull taste away. All of these exhibits make Neringa History Museum one of the coolest places to visit here no doubt.
Ethnographic Fisherman’s Museum is a very special part of Nida, representing its heart and soul – fishing. This tiny charming museum is located in an old wooden fisherman’s cottage that has been restored to represent the traditional appearance of a 19th century fishermen hut. Inside, you will find plenty of relics and tools of fishing trade that were used daily back in the day. Visiting this museum helps everyone to appreciate and understand all those men still going to see daily as if it were their religion! Just note that the museum is closed on Sundays and Mondays between September and May.
Tik Pas Jona is one of the most popular restaurants in Nida, especially for its exquisite smoked fish. You can grab a bream of fish straight from the smoker and sit on the beautiful terrace while enjoying your fish with a beer, rye bread, lemon and fresh tomato for a reasonable price. A must-visit place in Nida no doubt!

Situated a bit outside the main streets above a block of flats, the terrace overlooks the Parnidis Dune, which will make your evening here even more memorable. It is a great pick if you want a delicious dinner or just some drinks to enjoy over your evening with friends.
Gardumelisstrong> is a perfect place for those crazy about sweet and delicious desserts. Here you will also find different types of coffee drinks to go with the especially good eclairs, cheesecake and basically whatever your sweet tooth wishes for. Also, in this bakery you can try another beloved Lithuanian food – kibinai.
Kolibrisstrong> is great place to eat if you are looking for some traditional Lithuanian food, just a beer to enjoy after a long day in the water or even some delicious vegan dishes. It is located near the harbour in the very center of Nida, the staff is also super friendly and always welcomes you with a smile, so make sure to check it out!
Walk along the beach and watch the sun go down into the beautiful sea colouring the sky and the dunes with most fascinating colours. It is one of the best things to do if you want to feel like in a fairytale because the quiet white sand beach and a still sea full of tiny fishermen boats coming back to shore will sure make you enjoy the magic of this Lithuanian paradise.
Cycle along the promenade because it is connected with other tiny but amazing cities of Neringa, so you will get a chance to explore not only Nida but all of the pit’s glory! The fresh air, a cup of coffee along the way and picturesque views guarantee a day well spent and some amazing shots along the way if you like to bring a lot of pictures to fill your travel albums.
Take a boat trip and go off to the amazing waters of Nida. Here, you can rent a boat yourself or ask one of the amazing captains to sail you along the dunes and the Russian borders. You can find some boats where all the services are included so you can enjoy a cup of coffee or some beer along with a friendly crew and beautiful views, so bon voyage!
Visit Nida Cemetery, which is situated near the Old Church. It is one of the top things to do if you are interested in history and the ancient times, because here you will find numerous old pagan tombstones still standing. Something you will not find preserves in every cemetery, so don’t miss your chance to explore it.
Visit the famous sculpture of V. Kernagis and take a picture with one of the Nida’s icons. Vytautas Kernagis was a Lithuanian singer, songwriter and actor and here you can find a statue of him sitting on a bench playing his guitar. What is super interesting about this very statue is that it is not fixed permanently and can be moved to any other bench.
