Senoji Trobelė is a well-known restaurant located in Naujamiestis, a few minutes outside the old town of Vilnius, Lithuania. Senoji Trobelė is famous for traditional Lithuanian cuisine dishes and beverages served in authentic designed wooden house depicting the old life style of Lithuanian villages. Traditional Lithuanian cuisine dishes reflect agricultural heritage of Lithuania, with an emphasis on hearty and filling dishes made from locally sourced ingredients as pork, potato, dairy products, mushrooms, herring, seasonal vegetables.   

The most recommended dishes are the famous potato meal “cepelinai” or “zeppelins”, which are large potato dumplings typically filled with meat, cheese with herbs, or mushrooms and served with sour cream and bacon; “kugelis” – a traditional Lithuanian potato dish that often includes bacon; cold beet soup “šaltibarščiai” – a vibrant pink soup made from beets, kefir or sour cream, and often includes cucumbers, dill, and hard-boiled eggs, it‘s a refreshing and popular summer dish; herring – a common fish in Lithuanian cuisine prepared in various ways, such as pickled herring served with onions and sour cream or served with cooked carrots or mushrooms; rye bread – a staple in Lithuanian meals, it‘s typically dark and dense, served with butter, cheese, or various spreads. The most recommended beverages are beer, “midus” – a traditional honey mead, “krupnikas” – a spiced honey liqueur, herbal teas and infusions like chamomile and linden blossom tea.
