Dzintari Forest Park is one of the top attractions on Jurmala all year round. It is the most popular walking park full of beautiful pine trees where kids can play in special playgrounds, parents relax on carefully situated benches, and everyone can ride a bike or enjoy some rolescating on the smooth pavements. Here, you will also find the highest viewing tower in Jurmala that is free to access and offers stunning views of the city once on top of it. Jurmala Beach is the number one place, for which travelers flock to this resort city to enjoy in the first place. Jurmala Open-Air Museum is among the most visited places in Jurmala situated at the foot of the Ragakapa dune. The museum displays the daily life of local fishermen at the beginning of the 20th century. It offers the chance to climb on the decks of two original fishing boats and to visit authentic houses of the fishermen. Here, you will even have the possibility to try your luck and skills at the rope-making workshops! Inside, there is also a display of almost 2,000 exhibits about the work and life of Jurmala’s fishermen in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Jomas Street is a famous boulevard of Jurmala that is over 1 km long. Along this beautiful street, the majority of city’s highly rated restaurants and cafes are situated as well as some interesting shops and souvenir stalls. This nature oasis consists of a marsh that is almost 8,000 years old, little pools, plant and birds. There are two wooden trails made where you can walk around and gaze at the amazing nature. The small trail is around 1.4 km long, whereas if you choose to walk around the long trail, that is almost 3.4 km long, you will walk across one of the highlights of the park – a view tower. Once up there, you can enjoy the beauty of this magical marsh and everything in it from the top. If seen during sunrise or sunset, the place will definitely leave an unforgettable imprint in your memory!
Line Grill Restaurant is definitely one of the top choices to eat in Jurmala for both locals and visitors. This wooden restaurant is standing right on the dunes and faces the sea so a fascinating view to go with your meal is guaranteed! Visit the ‘Inner Light’ Art Studio if you want to get a share of cultural education alongside with all the fun. Here, visitors will find a lot of paintings made by Vitaly Yermolayev and all of them hides a secret light inside of them. Once lighted, they show a different version of the painting that could be seen with a bear eye in a simple daylight, and oh, all of them are just inexplicably beautiful! Definitely a highly recommended thing to do.
Explore the former bath-house of E.Racene while walking along the beach. Every architecture and history lover simply must visit this place because it is great example of of high class 19th century wooden architecture. There are also some restaurants nearby, so you can also choose to have a meal while examining this place at the same time.
Visit the Jurmala City Museum and learn more about the history of Jurmala. It is one of the top things to do if you want to know more about how it turned into such a charming resort town as it is today. The exhibitions here also changes from time to time, so you can never know what jewells you get to see when entering it!
