Thomas Mann's Summer House

Tours in Thomas Mann's Summer House

Everyone knows William Shakespeare and Paulo Coelho, but have you ever heard of Thomas Mann? In 1929, the famous German novelist visited Lithuania for the first time and stayed with his family in the Curonian Spit, an attractive holiday destination for Germans. Impressed by the beauty, Mann decided to build a summer house here, using the proceeds from winning the Nobel Prize in Literature the same year. He spent three summers (1930-1932) in his elegant villa, continuing to write his works while enjoying the view of the Curonian Lagoon through the window.

The house, now a memorial museum, stands on Mother-in-law Hill, showcasing a collection of photos, books, and documents reflecting Thomas Mann's life and works. Book a tour with us to explore this talented writer's legacy and be captivated by the natural beauty of the Curonian Spit, just as Mann was.
