Grūtas Park

Tours in Grūtas Park

For those who enjoy unique and somewhat shocking places, Grūtas Park is a must-visit destination. It's a sculpture garden featuring Soviet-era statues and an exhibition of other Soviet ideological relics. After Lithuania regained its independence in 1990, various Soviet statues were taken down and scattered. Entrepreneur Viliumas Malinauskas had a unique idea and requested permission from Lithuanian authorities to build a privately financed museum using these sculptures. Luckily, he got the approval, and now there is this unique park founded in 2001, near the resort city of Druskininkai in a forested area.

The entire 20-hectare park resembles severe Siberian conditions with guard towers, fragments of concentration camps, and other Soviet elements scattered throughout. The exhibition, consisting of 86 statues by 46 different sculptors, is organized into spheres based on theme and period. The aim of this exposition is to provide an opportunity for Lithuanian people, visitors to the country, and future generations to see the raw Soviet ideology that suppressed and hurt the spirit of the nation for many decades. It's absolutely thought-provoking, touching every visitor and evoking a wide range of emotions. Book a tour with us to experience this unique attraction in Lithuania.
