Vilnius Christmas Markets
Duration: 4 days · Countries: 1 · Sights: 8
Tour Description
A captivating 4-day winter break in one of Europe's most beautifully preserved Baroque capitals. Vilnius dazzles at any time of year, but at Christmas the Old Town – with its winding streets, Gothic spires and hidden courtyards – takes on a truly magical quality.
The first full day brings a guided walk through the heart of the Old Town, where over a thousand medieval buildings tell the story of centuries of history. From Vilnius Cathedral and the iconic Gediminas Tower to the ornate Peter and Paul Church, the delicate Gothic tracery of St. Anne's Church and the historic Gates of Dawn, the city reveals its layered past at every turn. The tour ends at the festive Christmas Market, where local crafts, seasonal treats and a warm, celebratory atmosphere invite you to linger.
The following morning offers a visit to the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania – once the political and cultural heart of one of medieval Europe's most powerful states, now a fascinating national museum bringing that remarkable era back to life. The afternoon is free to explore Vilnius further, with the MO Museum's collection of modern and contemporary Lithuanian art offering a compelling contrast to the city's ancient streets.
With its extraordinary architectural heritage, vibrant festive spirit and rich cultural scene, Vilnius at Christmas is a destination that surprises and delights in equal measure.
