MO Museum
Curious about the art that shaped modern Lithuania? This optional 2-hour excursion takes you to the MO Museum, the country's largest private museum and home to one of the biggest collections of Lithuanian modern and contemporary art. The building alone is worth the visit. Designed by world-renowned architect Daniel Libeskind, it was conceived as a cultural gateway between the 18th-century city grid and the medieval Old Town, and it has already won several architecture prizes.
Inside, you'll discover thousands of works of Lithuanian art from the 1950s to the present day, including art that was ideologically rejected in Soviet times and ignored by the country's museums because of the politics of the era. The museum is a gift to the public from collectors Danguolė and Viktoras Butkus, and its exhibitions change regularly, so each visit brings different artists and themes.
