Slitere National Park is considered to be the unique museum of the geological history of the Baltic Sea and Slitere National Park is one of the oldest nature reserves in the Baltic countries. In this national park you will be able to visit the 30-50 meter high scarp of the Baltic glacial lake, which is overgrown with natural, several types of broad-leaved forests and also, here is a lowland complex of gullies and swamps. By the way, in this amazing place, you can find hundreds of species of various plants and bryophytes, of which 29 species are in Latvia.
Kolkas Baka is located about 5-6 km from the Kolka Cape on the bottom of the sandy subsoil, on an artificially stuffed island. It is important to mention for those, who wish to go by boat there, that the time suitable for sailing to the lighthouse is only 40 days a year. In 1874 built lighthouse was destroyed during the World War II, and later was restored. Today the lighthouse is powered by solar energy and is visible from 10 sea miles.
