Rundale Palace

Tours in Rundale Palace

Rundale Palace, one of the two major Baroque palaces constructed for the Dukes of Courland in Latvia, is located in Pilsrundale, just 12 kilometers away from Bauska city. In 1735, Duke of Courland Ernst Johann von Biron acquired land in Rundāle, including an old medieval castle on the site of a planned summer residence. The medieval castle was demolished, giving way to the splendid palace we see today. Initially serving as accommodation for notable guests, including foreign leaders, Rundale Palace and its surrounding gardens became a branch of the Bauska local history museum in 1963.

Now, Rundale Palace is a major tourist destination in Latvia, featuring 46 meticulously decorated rooms, two halls, and the impressive Great Gallery. The palace hosts events like the Early Music Festival and classical music recitals. Don't forget to explore the enchanting French-style gardens—a captivating counterpart to the palace. Some even liken the complex to a smaller version of Versailles Palace. To witness this royal atmosphere, book a tour and visit Latvia with us. Experience the extraordinary charm of Rundale Palace at least once—it's waiting for you!
